The United States is divided into 435 congressional districts, each with a population of about 710,000 individuals. Each district elects a representative to the U.S. House of Representatives for a two-year term. Representatives are also called congressmen/congresswomen.

Much like a corporate board of directors, Nevada’s Board of Regents governs the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE). Elected to serve a four-year term, the 13 Regents set policies and approve budgets for Nevada’s entire public system of higher education: four community colleges, one state university, two doctoral-granting research universities, and one research institute.
