Locals thronged to enjoy community and meet with local agencies at event.

On a beautiful Spring day along the shore of Washoe Lake, neighbors gathered to reunite with friends after the winter, meet new ones and bring fresh questions and comments to local agencies that work in the South County.

The Bluegrass band was there with lively entertainment. The BLM, Forest Service, Fire Departments, Nevada Division of Wildlife, Audubon Society, Nevada Land Trust, AARP, Nevada Historical Society, Truckee Meadows Fire and Defensible Space, Wild Horse Advocates, and many other groups were there to interact directly with residents.

Residents young and old, and many in between enjoyed the food provided by the Washoe Valley Volunteer Fire Department, the music of the Bluegrass band and the many local donations to the fundraising raffle. Children flocked to the fire trucks, police motorcycles, and preserved animal displays.

One thing I like is to be able to personally thank those agency representatives for the work they do for us.

While branded "Celebrate Washoe Valley" the event is of interest to all residents of the South County.

It was a great event to network with local residents on various issues affecting the South County area. Fire, Floods, Water, Sewer, Development, Highways, are all topics of common concern.

Thanks to the Washoe Valley Alliance for their work in bringing this great gathering to the community. Looking forward to next year!
