Regional Planning Meeting this Thursday at 6pm

From Washoe Valley Alliance:
Show your opposition by showing up!
No, the administrative approval (disapproval) process is not yet over for Sierra Reflections, a mostly high-density, 940-home project proposed for just over Washoe Hill in rural Pleasant Valley. There are at least one – and probably two - more Commissions/Boards who will vote on whether the proposed project meets certain criteria.
The bottom line is that it does matter if each Commission/Board member sees the number of residents who care enough to show up at their meeting. Sierra Reflections’ representatives will be there; and you and your friends and neighbors should be, too!
The venue is the same as the previous meetings and here is the date and time:
Thursday, May 28, 2026, starting at 6 p.m.Washoe County Commission Chambers
1001 East Ninth Street, Reno, Nevada
This time it will be a meeting of the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commission (TMRPC). It will very likely be another long meeting. So be prepared by dressing comfortably and bringing beverages and/or snacks – or even an iPad to help you pass the time, if you want. But PLEASE attend and stay to the end, if you possibly can.
Please be aware that the members of the TMRPC are not well-compensated, elected officials. Each member is appointed to the TMRPC by their (elected) Sparks or Reno city council-members or by the (elected) Washoe County Commissioners. They are more like ordinary residents who have volunteered to help their communities, and receive only token compensation for volunteering. So, whether you speak during one of the meeting’s public comment opportunities or only sit in the audience, please be courteous and respectful. Poor behavior can be counter-productive to our cause.
We, the tax-paying residents who live here, must not give up. Giving up is one of the things the developers count on happening. We individuals who are opposed must – with credit to “Survivor” – outwit, outplay and, perhaps most of all, outlast the developers.
P.S. Yes, Sierra Reflections is being fought on other fronts, including a lawsuit, Ethics Complaints against the three county commissioners who voted on March 10 to “approve” Sierra Reflections, and an “Open Meeting Law” complaint. However, if SR is defeated administratively, these other measures may not be needed.
See you there!
