Virginia City Water System Work Closes South County Trails

Most of these trails are outside South Washoe County but you might try to access them from linking trails from Davis Creek Park or other points from west Washoe Valley.

The major closure in South Washoe County is the Lakeview Trailhead that gives access to Hobart Reservoir. This trail as well as the others will be closed until next summer Monday through Friday, 6am-5pm.

Last year they started working on Marlette Dam repairs which closed the famous Flume Trail on the eastshore of Lake Tahoe. This trail starts at Spooner Lake and ends at Incline Village. This year they are focusing on repairs to the entire system leading to more extensive closures.

The only few exceptions are the Tahoe Rim Trail and Carson to Tahoe Trail. Ophir Creek Trail from Davis Creek Regional Park will also remain open.

Access will be strictly prohibited and law enforcement will actively be patrolling the area.
