Police scanner traffic indicated a bear had been hit on Old 395 just north of the Chocolate Nugget Candy Factory in Washoe City at about 7:30 on July 23rd.
In the video above NDOW reported that a cub was hit and killed. The sow (mother) and two cubs survived, were captured, checked and tagged and released "into a suitable wild habitat".
As with horses and deer, be on the alert for bears and other wildlife when driving in the South Valleys area.
