Review of July 14 BCC Meeting

Change to Subdivision Open Space Code passes unanimously.

Item 14 South Valleys Regional Park Expansion Project Phase 2, PWP-WA-2026-308, to discuss bidding for the project was postponed for more information.

Item 15 about the Pleasant Valley Sewer Lift Station was skipped without any explanation I could find. Same with item 16, changes to the nuisance ordinance. The Commissioners went directly from Item 13 to 22. "All right, we'll go ahead and close item 13. We'll now move to item 22, which is a second reading."

The proposed changes to the Open Space requirements from new subdivisions was described in the meeting as (Youtube time stamp 3:51:12, Item 22):

"This will be ordinance number 1764, an ordinance amending the Washoe County code at chapter 110 development code article 408 by applying the findings that reference sight specific characteristics only when those characteristics are present on the parcels in question to ensure the design flexibility and associated public benefits inherent to common open space developments. Development is potentially available to all subdividable parcels."

This appears to reduce the number of Findings required from 5 to any 3 on any proposed Common Open Space Development. This may make it easier for developers to gain approvals of their projects.

The proposed amendment was passed unanimously with no public comment.
